Ancestry

German ancestry residents are mostly in Nye County and Humboldt. Many Irish Americans live in Washoe County. Lincoln County, Churchill County, Lyon County, White Pine County, and Eureka County as well.

The five largest Non-Hispanic White ancestry groups in Nevada are German (11.3%), Irish(9.0%), English(6.9%), Italian(5.8%), and American(4.7%). All these groups have roots in the ancestry of this state. However, it was before the option of citing American was not popular. After a few years, there was a huge change in the numbers but it is recorded due to the precious citations.

Race

Nevada’s racial composition is pretty interesting as it is one of the most diverse states in the US. Here, White is the most common race that you can find in most cities. It makes up around 67.1% share of its total population. On the other hand, White includes: Non-Hispanic White is 50.5% and White Hispanic is 16.6%.

While the Black or African American has a share of 8.8%, the American Indian and Alaska Native is 1.1%. The most surprising numbers come from the Asian race that makes up around 8.1% of its total population. It is the few states where the Asian race has covered more than 5% of the population.

Not a lot of people know that Non-Hispanic whites formed 83.3% of Nevada's population in 1980. Hispanics Birth is only counted based on their ethnicity and race. Birth data of white Hispanics aren't collected since 2016, but other Hispanic group’s data are collected if they are of any race.
