Based on the 2000 National census, the biggest ancestry groups in the state of Colorado are English (12%), Irish (12%), Mexican (18%), and German (22%), including Australian and Swiss origins. There are ÿÿa lot of people reporting German ancestry, especially in the Front Range like the Eastern Parts/High Plains, West Central counties, and the Rockies.

A visit to the Denver Metropolitan area, Colorado Spring, and other smaller cities of Pueblo and Greeley shows that there is a high concentration of Hispanic, mostly the Mexican-American people. Similarly, Southwestern, Southern, and Southeastern Colorado host so many Hispanos. These Hispanos are the descendants of the early settlers of colonial Spanish origin. Earlier, the census board in 1950 reported that in Colorado there were 90.3% non-Hispanic white and 8.2% Hispanic.

In the past decades, the population of Hispanic that live and do business in Colorado has continued to grow. In 2019, around 22% of the total Colorado population was Hispanics, while 70% were Non-Hispanic Whites. The English language that most Colorado residents speak has many Spanish idioms.

The state of Colorado also has some African-American communities spread across the Denver area, especially in places like Five Points, Montbello, Whittier, and other areas in East Denver.
